The Rise of Shopify

Shopify is a software that allows any user to set up an online store to sell their products – an all access platform that allows you to use your business tools in the same place. Like marketing products, interacting with clients, getting paid, shipping products, managing general finances etc.

Lockdown has contributed to the reams of online shopping occurring right now, but Shopify themselves have declared even with the return of retailors ecommerce is here to stay. On Shopify ALONE there are over 1.75 million store users – So, why has it become so popular?

It’s Accessible

Shopify market themselves as being available to ‘everyone.’ This means both professionals and beginners can use the site, catering to all abilities. There’s easy to use features as well as free courses and tutorials available. You don’t have to worry about the tech side of things either because Shopify provides all software and hosting, you just need a product to sell!

Scalability

Although your business may be small right now, your aim is to grow, right? Shopify offer a range of subscriptions and features for all size businesses, allowing you to grow without having to swap ecommerce platforms. Sure, other sites may be cheaper but are they going to be able to facilitate your development? Shopify in itself is very affordable, it may be ‘pricey’ compared to other sites but it’s worth it just due to the fact every tool is on one platform, which leads me to my next point.

Marketing Tools

Imagine you’ve set up your own online shop, looks good, you’re feeling good, ready to start selling, aaaaand no one clicks on your page. Well, Shopify has powerful Search Engine Optimisation features you can use in order to help your website rank higher in Google’s search results – the higher you rank the easier it is for customers to find you. Additionally, use their analytics to see where exactly your customers are coming from. If you know where they’re coming from then you know better who you need to market towards.

It’s Safe

No, we don’t mean that it’s a safe bet (although it probably is) we mean it’s a secure site. People are paying money, they’re putting their bank details in, some people using accounts with their entire life savings in – you need to know this transaction is going to be secure. Also, when dealing with credit card information you need to be PCI compliant, Shopify takes care of everything.

It’s Reliable

You know how much effort goes into running an ecommerce business, time is of the essence – especially for small businesses that do everything themselves. Many people use their Shopify website because it gives them more time to work on selling their product and marketing it properly. Freeing up more of your time, Shopify is reliable and takes care of all server maintenance and upgrades to keep your store available at all times.

Mobile Access

Shopify can be used on both mobile and desktop devices. This means it is accessible to a lot more users, did you know it’s predicted that mobile ecommerce has been estimated to make up more than half of all ecommerce sales in 2021? You wouldn’t want to miss out on that kind of audience reach! Plus, there are IPhone and Android apps to manage your Shopify stores on the go.

Just generally has a lot of useful features

For example, if a customer leaves an item of yours abandoned in their cart, Shopify can provide an abandoned cart recovery service that tracks and emails your potential customers to remind them of your services. The site in itself is easily designed with over 150 themes to choose from, all of which are customisable by altering the code –  try the colours and the site design you’re looking for!

There is no wonder that in recent years Shopify’s popularity has shot right up. It’s easy to use, easy to design and easy to sell on! What’s not to like? So, what do you think? Would you consider selling on Shopify?
