Why is Page Speed important?

User Bounce Rate

Well, to put it bluntly, the attention span of the typical web user is very short. They’re not waiting any longer then 3 seconds for your site to load before they look elsewhere.

Users come onto a site and EXPECT a fast loading speed. Did you know 40% of people abandon a website that takes more than 3 seconds to load? 40%! And after those 3 seconds every additional second your site takes to load loses you another 10% traffic! Time is literally money.

You’ve most likely worked hard to drive online traffic to your site and then you’re losing nearly half of your potential customers before your page has even properly loaded. Make sure your time, effort and money isn’t wasted by just checking what your score is! If it’s not good improve it, or let us! Take a look at how your own website is performing via PageSpeed Score.

SEO

Page Speed affects not only bounce rate but also has an impact on your Search Engine Optimisation; from both mobile speed and user experience.

Mobile page speed is a direct ranking factor for Google search and Ads. So, if your webpage isn’t performing well on mobile devices it is less likely for your site to be on the first page of mobile search results, which means less exposure for you.

Page experience is also now an SEO ranking factor. Google includes multiple things into your score including your site being mobile-friendly, safe-browsing, having HTTPS and a lack of interstitial pop ups.

Core web vitals will make up the largest portion of your page experience score, there are approximately 200 factors that google uses to rank sites however, so don’t be surprised if you are not pushed to the top spot straight away. How your users experience your website IS important, Google are making a big push for businesses to up their scores.
