 Let’s start with UI Design.

UI stands for ‘User Interface’. User interface is the graphical layout of an application. It consists of the buttons users click on, the text they read, images, sliders, text entry fields and all the other items your users interact with. As well as screen layout, transitions and any sort of visual element, interaction or animation, must all be designed. This is a UI designers job. They decide what the application is going to look like, what the colour schemes will be, the types of fonts and the shapes of buttons etc. UI designers create the look of an application’s user interface. It’ up to UI designers to make sure the interface of the application is visually stimulating, aesthetic and matches the appropriate theme, purpose and personality of the site.

‘UX’ stands for ‘User Experience’. A user’s experience of an app/site depends on how they interact with it. UX Designers have to ensure the website runs as smooth as possible to please the visitors. User experience is determined by how easy or difficult it is to interact with the user interface elements that the UI Designers have created. If navigation is complicated, then the user experience will be poor, it is a UX designers job to ensure this is not the case. UX Designers also have to complete a lot of analysis. They have a lot of responsibilities which include: research, testing, development and prototyping to test. Through using these methods, UX Designers can see precisely what they need to change, what is currently working on the site, and what needs improving.

People often don’t understand the difference between UI/UX Design. UX Designers are also concerned with an applications interface, which is why people get so confused. Although both are concerned with the user interface UI designers only decide how the user interface will look whereas UX designers focus on how it operates.
