Always dreamt of being the next big Instagram influencer? Or just want to up your follower count? Look no further because this is for you!
Instagram – with over 1 billion monthly users Instagram has become a large source of income worldwide, from more awareness of your brand, more views on your blog or actually creating a career from Instagram the opportunities are now endless! Why not hop on the hype and set your Instagram soaring.
Here are our top tips:
1) #HASHTAG #HASHTAG #HASHTAG!
If you think hashtags are bad then you are so wrong! Well maybe the #follow4follow needs to stay back in 2012 but you need to study and use quality hashtags. The correct hashtag will expose your image/profile to a large targeted audience. Due to the popularity of hashtags on Instagram, you can now follow hashtags! So not only can you appear on peoples feed if they follow the hashtag, you can follow hashtags and find more people like you! ( for example, fashion accounts may hashtag #fashionblogger ) You can also create your own hashtag and get people using it! This is a great way to spread the word of your brand and get more people talking about you.
2) The importance of Instagram Stories!
Instagram stories appear on the Explore page, therefore people who do not follow you can still find your stories. By adding Geolocations and hashtags to your stories gets them out there even further! Most geolocations and hashtags have their own stories so you can watch any recent stories posted in a certain area or with a certain hashtag, again possibly increasing your followers.
We get that not everybody wants to post a million hashtags on their Instagram story, so why not cheat a little and cover them with stickers or gifs! It wasn’t us who told you that though…
3) Be Consistent.
With Instagram’s algorithmic timeline, consistency is a key element to getting seen, recognized and remembered. If you are posting regularly and getting good engagement then the algorithm may place you closer to the top, making you seen by more and getting your engagement levels up.
4) Post at your best times.
Sounds obvious, right? But How? Well, If your account is set to a business account you may not know but every account has its best time to post! This is based on when your followers are most active, here’s how to find the information:
- Open the Instagram app and go to your profile
- Click on Instagram Insights (the bar chart icon)
- Scroll down to the ‘followers’ section and tap on ‘see more’
Now at the bottom of the page, you will see on which day of the week and at which hours your followers are most active. You will also be able to see where the majority of your followers are based etc. It has never been easier to know when to post.
5) Engagement is key.
Unless you’re Beyonce, if you don’t engage with others they are unlikely to engage with you. Taking time daily to interact is essential in growing your Instagram account. Genuine comments are very important, don’t be spamming people with annoying comments or emoji’s as they are likely to think you’re spam and block you, which will definitely not grow your account. Comment more personal, genuine things. Also finding accounts you don’t follow, liking multiple posts and commenting a genuine comment and maybe following them will get you noticed and they are more likely to follow you back. It is also a way of determining whether an account is organic too. If someone has 50,000 followers but gets 100 likes on their posts this is very obvious their followers are not organic, you do not want to look like this, so by engaging with others, your engagement should increase in turn.
Our last tip for you is IGNORE THE FOLLOW UNFOLLOW METHOD. A lot of people may tell you that this is a great way to get followers, this method involves randomly following hundreds of accounts and when they follow you back, unfollow them. This simply does not work, not only will people get annoyed at you for following and unfollowing them but this takes a lot of time! Don’t waste your time, follow our simple steps and slay the ‘gram!
