Whitefriargate
The rebranding of Whitefriargate, a historic and iconic street in the heart of Hull.
Reimagining a historic street without losing its heritage
Whitefriargate is a historic and iconic street in the heart of Hull. In collaboration with Wykeland and Trinity House, our team was entrusted with reimagining its identity while honouring its rich heritage.
The goal was a compelling visual language that would capture the essence of this storied street and help drive its revitalisation as a thriving destination for businesses, shoppers and tourists alike.
Heritage and a fresh start, in balance
From the initial research and concept development to the final execution of the branding elements, the task was to strike the right balance.
The identity had to preserve Whitefriargate’s historical charm while introducing a fresh, modern aesthetic that would appeal to a wide audience.
A monogram, a palette and a line that says it all
The identity centres on a W monogram drawn in parallel lines, set in black and a warm sand colour.
The line ‘Old town, new beginning.’ carries the idea in four words: the street’s history and its future, side by side.
One identity, from hoardings to the website
The brand was designed to work on the street itself and everywhere Whitefriargate is promoted, and we designed and built the website to carry it online.
