Today we’re launching the Facebook Sports Stadium, a dedicated place to experience sports in real-time with your friends and the world.

With 650 million sports fans, Facebook is now the world’s largest stadium. Minus the hooligans and traffic afterwards. Facebook has always seen fans celebrate and trash talk with friends and other fans, so why not give this unique social experience a platform.

What exactly does it do?

With Facebook Sports stadium, all the content on Facebook related to the game is in one place, and it comes in real time and appears chronologically. Many of the features you can see are:

  • Live scores and stats
  • Posts from friends and their comments on the game
  • Posts and commentary from experts, such as teams, leagues and journalists
  • Game info, such as where to find the game on TV

Facebook Sports Stadium is a second-screen experience that will make the game that little bit better. Whether it be following the action by watching the live commentary, commenting on your mates post abusing them over their loss, or avoiding it completely as your team have been turned over by your mates team, the Sports Stadium can cater to all types of sports and results, providing a unique experience week in, week out.

To access the Sports Stadium, simply search the game, and let Facebook do the work for you.

Although the only sport covered so far is American football game ahead of next month’s Superbowl, but it will support other sports, including football, in the future, Facebook have said. Well, let’s be honest, that’s all we really want to watch anyways.
